TERRAIN
At the Kainuu Orienteering Week 2025, we will return to the notoriously challenging terrain of the 2013 World Championship middle-distance qualifiers. The competition area is located next to the Vuokatti-Jukola 2027 terrains.
A diverse range of Kainuu's hill terrain is on offer. Beautiful Kainuu lake landscapes open up from the tops of the hills, and the terrain is very detailed and rocky. Lower down the hill slopes, participants can orienteer through old spruce forests and flatter areas of the hill. The area allows enjoyment of the nature of two protected areas while challenging oneself with varying traversability in commercially used forests. The competition centre is situated at Ohravaara, where the elevation differences are more moderate than in other hills, and the shapes are flatter. In its surroundings, there are more diverse trails and other clear guiding features in the competition terrain.
