KAINUU ORIENTEERING WEEK 2025

Kainuu O-Week competition categories

  • Four (4) competition days and two (2) rest days
  • Program: 1st stage, rest day, 2nd stage, rest day, 3rd stage and 4th stage
  • Categories H/D8-95, Elite H/D 16-21E
  • Four competition days and overall ranking is calculated as a overall results of the all 4 race day. In elite categories there is a pursuit start in the last 4th stage. 
  • In competition categories prizes are very good quality and for example in elite categories H/D21E money prizes totally up to 9000 € are awarded as follows:
    • 1. 2500 €
    • 2. 1250 €
    • 3. 750 €

The categories, start areas, map scales, daily distances, participants, and prize recipients will be published in spring 2025.

The distances to the start locations and the categories for each start location will be published in spring 2025.

Start area guiding map will be published in spring 2025.

In the start area guiding map the locations of the start areas and distances to the start areas from the Competition Centre are published.

NOTICE! All orienteers who have entered to the terrain must register themselves in the finish area after the competition even that if there have been drop-out etc!!

Competition material

All competitors must wear a competition number. You will find the number bibs in the folders near the KOW-Info. Please, attach the number using your own safety pins. Safety pins can be purchased at the KOW-Info at €1 / 4 pcs. Competitors will use the same number throughout the week except in elite categories H/D16-21E where the competitors will have new number bib for the last 4th stage of the Kainuu O-Week.

A replacement competition number may be purchased at the KOW-info for 2 euros.

Emit cards reserved for the competition categories can be picked up and paid at the KOW-info for €15/week or €5/day. There is an €90 charge for an unreturned Emit card.

The condition of the Emit card can be checked at the model control point in the Competition Centre.

Different people CANNOT use the same Emit card during the orienteering week.

Prizes

There will be money prizes for overall winners in categories H/D21E as follows:

  • 1. 2500,00 €
  • 2. 1250,00 €
  • 3. 750,00 €

In each category, 1-3 competitors are awarded according to overall standings and the number of participants in each category. Prizes are products and gift tokens. Stage winners are awarded in stages 1,2 and 3. In categories H/D8-10 RR and Open/Family-RR there will be a participation prize for every participant.

In open courses (A/B/C, Open/Family-RR) one prize in each category is raffled on each day.

20th, 30th, 40th and 50th anniversary medals

All orienteers who are participating into the Kainuu Orienteering Week for the 20th, 30th, 40th or 50th time, please inform us and leave your contact information at our office (info@rastiviikko.fi) by 31st May 2025 so that we can reserve enough anniversary medals for everyone. Anniversary medals are awarded in conjunction with stage winners’ prize-giving ceremonies.
