The starting locations and distances to the starting points for different categories of the Kainuu Orienteering Week are now published on our website.
A new addition is the Family-RR category in open courses (recreational orienteering), which will start directly from the start number 4 this year. The route signage for the Family-RR category starts from the start number 4 and it uses the same route signage as the H/D8RR competition category.
This new arrangement allows all open orienteers to register as having entered the terrain at the starting gates near the competition centre. This arrangement significantly facilitates and clarifies the operations at the start areas. It also makes it smoother for orienteers to move to the start areas, as they can now focus directly on their orienteering performance and entering the forest right at the start area.
All other recreational orienteering series will start from either starting point 5 or starting point 6 (see table at the open courses info website).
- From starting point 5, the following series will start: B-Medium, B-Short, C-Long, and C-Short.
- From starting point 6, the following series will start: A-Long, A-Medium, A-Short, and B-Long.
In the competition categories, the starting positions follow the same pattern as last year (see table at the competition categories info website).
