The 57th Kainuu Orienteering Week 2025 attracted over 26,000 visitors to Vuokatti and Kainuu

We extend our warmest thanks to all participants, volunteers, landowners, partners, and stakeholders who contributed to making the 57th edition of this great orienteering event in Kainuu a success!
Despite the rainy weather, the event week brought together a total of 5,232 individuals, and the cumulative number of visits exceeded 26,000. Over the week, an impressive 11,642 sports performances were completed.
Participation in Kainuu Orienteering Week, June 29 – July 4, 2025
Participants:
- Competitive categories: 1,784 individuals
- Open courses: 1,200 individuals
- Total orienteers: 2,984 individuals
Spectators and support crews: 1,000 individuals
Total attendance: 3,984 individuals
Orienteering performances:
- Competitive categories: 7,136 performances
- Open courses: 2,505 performances
- Total: 9,641 performances
Additional performances in side events:
- “Rastiralli” orienteering adventure course (4 stages): 204 performances
- Sprint orienteering event on Monday, June 30: 272 performances
- Sprint courses on Wednesday, July 2: 272 performances
Cumulative attendance (3,984 x 6 days): 23,904 visits
Kainuu MTB Orienteering Week, June 29 – July 4, 2025
Participants:
- Competitive categories: 180 individuals
- Open courses: 70 individuals
- Total MTB orienteers: 250 individuals
MTB orienteering performances:
- Competitive categories: 660 performances
- Open courses: 120 performances
- Total: 780 performances
Spectators and support crews: 100 individuals
Total attendance: 350 individuals
Cumulative attendance (350 x 6 days): 1,300 visits
Kainuu Trail – Trail Running Event, June 28, 2025
Participants:
- Registered runners: 648 individuals (participation record!)
- Finishers: 473 individuals (participation record!)
Spectators and support crews: 250 individuals
Total attendance: 898 individuals

The 58th Kainuu Orienteering Week will be held in the scenic pine forests and hill terrains of Säynäjä, Suomussalmi, from June 28 to July 3, 2026.
